Changelog
What has changed in FlowState: ATC, newest first. Both the web game and the Android version are built from the same design, so most entries apply to both.
September 2026
Clouds fixed on Android
Turbulence mode's cloud layer rendered as blocks and banding on many Android devices. The clouds were generated with a per-pixel hash that needs full floating point precision, which mobile GPU drivers do not guarantee in fragment shaders. The noise is now baked into a texture that renders identically on every device, and it costs a fraction of what the old version did, so the frame rate in turbulence mode improved on phones as well.
Better handling of automated signups
We were seeing large numbers of automated guest account creations. New accounts are now logged with the information needed to tell a real player from a script, the site carries several traps that only automated traffic trips, and the signup pages have additional protection. No change for anyone playing normally.
July 2026
The game canvas fits any screen
The radar used to be a fixed size, which meant letterboxing on some displays and clipping on others. It now scales to whatever window it is given.
Countdown into the game, and a fix for the stuck Loading button
Starting a run now counts down and puts keyboard focus on the game automatically, so your first click goes to an aircraft instead of to the page. The button that sometimes stayed on "Loading..." after a restart no longer does.
Return-to-game button behaves
The button that brings you back to the radar after scrolling down the page now reappears reliably instead of occasionally vanishing.
June 2026
Turbulence mode
A third game mode. Wind drifts across the whole sector and pushes every aircraft off its commanded heading, while storm cells throw anything entering their core onto a random new one. Both effects intensify with each wave, and a new storm cell appears every wave. There is a full guide.
Guest accounts
You can now play without registering. One click gives you the complete game, every mode, single player and multiplayer. Guests are excluded from the public leaderboard, so registered players' scores stay comparable.
Username filtering
Profanity and slurs are now rejected at registration, on both the website and the app.
Profile features tightened up
Profile customisation is now for registered accounts, guests no longer hit a redirect loop on the profile page, and the cursor colour you pick in your profile is the colour other players actually see in multiplayer.
About page rebuilt
The About page became a proper description of the game, organised into expandable sections rather than a wall of text.
May 2026
Google sign-in fixes on Android
Several rounds of work on the app's Google sign-in, including a fallback that lets you paste the token manually when the browser fails to hand control back to the app.
Cursor colours
Fixed the white cursor option disappearing from the profile picker, and made the colour shown in game match the one selected in the profile.
Earlier
Portal chaos mode, the multiplayer rooms and matchmaking system, the leaderboard, profile pictures with cropping, and the Android release. FlowState: ATC has been in continuous development since 2025.
